Help on some costings please ????

Looked at a Griff 500 in Olympic blue yesterday.... mechanically it sound, but cosmetically needs a few things doing so can you lot help out with some indicative costs:-

1. New carpets through out.

2. Nose, bonnet and wing mirror respray.

3. 2 No wheels refurb costs.

4. Windscreen (milky and scored line at edge of passenger wiper blade) .... approx £220 (Gatwick TVR IIRC)

If I was to go the whole hog, dash releather (bubbled up in the sculpted bit on the passenger side.

someone has recently posted costings for full interior refurb and the name of who did it, do a search in the Griff forum.

The other one (I think is Northern Paul) who seems to be knowledgeble about these things.

Have you tried the Griffith Pages for info too?

I was surprised how just a good clean can make a difference to carpets. I thought I had to replace them on the one I bought but after a good clean and some glue they are fine.

My costing guesstimates would be:-

1. New carpets through out. £350-500

2. Nose, bonnet and wing mirror respray. £450-750

3. 2 No wheels refurb costs. £50-100

4. Windscreen (milky and scored line at edge of passenger wiper blade) .... approx £220 (Gatwick TVR IIRC) Circa £220-250, but if you are lucky and have windscreen cover on your insurance, a stone might hit it a couple of months down the line.

All plus VAT. Figures very due to who you use. Are you replacing the carpets because they are tatty or because they smell? Does the wooden dash need doing too?

carpets need replacing due to tatty in the foot wells, and disintegrate on touch behind in the rear.

Taking all this on board, it works out a better and cheaper option to buy from a dealer who has cometically sorted the car in this instance.

Sounds like a thrashed and trashed piece of Winnie the P**h.

If the last owner drove up the back of everything so close he's peppered all the paintwork and the dash is bubbling and the carpets are knackered then it's fairly safe to assume he has been totally slack on all the things you can't see.

I think you're being very negative - and unnecessarily so! Mine is a very well loved and looked after Griff, and has a bit of milkiness in the windscreen and needs a front end respray. The sculpted bit in the dash gives up without warning and is nothing to do with care, and carpets are almost consumables.

Maybe, but the symptoms described above make the thing sound totally clapped out and one to avoid while there are much better examples out there.

If the carpets are rotten then it almost certainly means it has lived outside and that is likely to mean corrosion elsewhere.

I suspect that the peeling/bubbling dash is a feature of constant sunlight.

It just sounds plain tatty.
