Handbrake Issues
Discussion
Hey everyone,
Driving my 98' Griff into a garage the other day and pulled the handbrake on. Imagine my horror when the button flew out from the end together with the spring!!
I attempted to screw it back in but its well and truly broken - have replaced it with a leven handbrake but the button still does not operate properly and it takes a bit of wrangling to get the handbrake off at all. I'm told this may mean removing the entire centre console to get at the handbrake linkage!!
Has anyone had any experience or offer any help!!??
Thanks

Ahhh this is true. The problem I have is that the button is not connecting properly. I have to wiggle it around to find the resistance for the handbrake and sometimes the handbrake will only half come off and then I have to play around with it again!
Am now nervous about putting it in in traffic!

Not related but worth mentioning.
Dont try and yank the Handbrake up to high and towards the driver(which is easy to do as it is positioned over on the left) as this can brake/shear a tiny bolt that holds it square under the transmission Tunnel.... Been their done that got the skinless knuckles
Aha in the right thread now... some smart Arses know what i am on about

seems quite lame in general these days, i've resorted to rummaging around in the S and Chim threads for something interesting to read
Certainly thought there would be a queue for having a go at BB.
Felt like the only person in the pub that got the joke!

Great to be out there isnt it.
When the weather was nice last weekend I took the 'new' Griff out and had the roof off for the first time since I've had it (since Nov)
Particularly brilliant now I have a working heater too.
What a difference it makes driving without the roof. I'd forgotten how much fun driving can be

I've still got to be the happiest bunny on the planet - took my baby out 3 weeks ago for the first time in 2.5 years - looking forward to the next adventure.
This weekend I'm prepping up the garage floor for concrete so I'll have somewhere nice and cosy to keep her

All the regulars have got bored and moved on, my yellow friend
Re the handbrake, TADTS. I picked the little washers out from the bottom front of the windscreen with a magnetic jobbie and screwed it all back together - works fine.
