Had my 500 Griff for about a month now and have noticed recently that it sounds a bit " tappety" when its hot.I presume this is where the oil has thinned out and is probably nothing to worry about? Also is there any way to alter the tension on the seatbelts?
The drivers belt seems to start to strangle you after a while and the passenger side there is not enough to pull it back into the holder.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, same time ish ownership and same probs with belts! No tappetty probs, tho. Shouldnt worry too much re the belts, maybe just a good clean which i intend doing at some time soonish, possibly, never seem to find that time......enjoy.

They can sound tappety if there's a hole in the exhaust manifold. I think also it's easy to get over paranoid about noises in the engine as I do.

Check your manifold bolts. They are prone to working loose, I check mine regular and last week managed to un thread one with my fingers

I don't know which oil your running but I use Castrol 5/50 and this helps with oil pressure and subdues tappet noise slightly too. But nought to worry about unless it is really noisy.

Had the same thing with my Griff. Tappety / metallic when hot - was a manifold crack at the back - very small but sounded engine related at the time. Take it to Dr Seasider in Harley Street.

My engine sounds a lot quieter and smoother since I changed to a slightly thicker oil, now use 10w 50 rather than 5w 50.
