Does any one know where to get an alternator repaired as Ive just managed to put a short across the bloody thing and blown the diodes
in or around the north west

Any good Autoelectricians, plus if they also stock Lucas parts. Its only 2 screws holding it in IIRC, you may be able to get the diode pack & brushes & DIY.

If all else fails, I know Mark Adams had some new alternators at a reasonable price - I bought one last year.

Had my Alternator go last summer, took it to my local Lucus Service centre and they matched it up instantly with an "off the shelf" one right there and then.
£55 and 3 yrs warranty couldnt see the point in repairing the old one.

I think the price will vary on the output wattage of the alt... If you feel so inclined it is a good opportunity to uprate the alt as some have done.
