The wedge came with some boxes of bits; mostly wedge, some Chimaera, and odd bits of mgb and tr7.
The front suspension's getting a refurb so I was investigating whether or not these nos calipers will fit and be a suitable upgrade.
Looks like they'll need 4mm spacers to centre them but otherwise look ok, I don't know what they're from or if they're suitable but the pads are much bigger and they fit ok.
Plus they're new and ready to fit.
Number on the casting is 320192
Any thoughts?

Not 100% on those but they should be as good as the original...

Evening Alan.

You coming on the S-Club Tour? You current refurb could make it 3 Wedges on the run.

Hi Stewart,
I'll be in the S2 as the wedge stands little chance of being ready given the rate of progress, and it is supposed to be S Club after all.
What are your thoughts on the caliper upgrade?

Thee are a few different Ford variant calipers with the same fitting. If they fit and offer more brake pad surface area then my view is that they should be fine. The 390 uses the larger Granada 2.8i estate caliper which look very similar to yours.

Morning,

I have a set of Princess 4-pots to upgrade the front of Wendy. I am not as 'expert' in the Wedge braking system as I am in the S set up.

Hi Keith

Brake upgrade is one of the things I do think changing from original is worth doing. I am looking at even doing them on my recently rebuilt SEAC. The 4 pot princess calipers are not giving me the confidence they used to for some reason. We are going to go for another bleed again tomorrow, and if they don't improve I will be looking at the Hi spec set up as well.

Another one here with hispec 4-pot. Was the first upgrade over 10 years ago.
Confident braking and no fade, even on trackdays.

Was quite a surprise when temporarily had to reinstall the old original (non-vented) setup, even when the braking was very good and no fail, for the oldtimer MOT here in Belgium, as grooved disks and metal braded hoses are not allowed.... (needs to be period/original).
Originals felt like bad brakes and a spongy pedal that needed sorting (all correctly installed in good condition, good pads and fully bled...) and didn't dare to go fast on the road, but this with less braking it passed with flying colours.
