Do you have a problem with high oil temperature? How are you measuring it?

the thread put up by perry is useful. Do be careful with oil coolers though - you also need to fit an oil temperature guage. when you do you will find that on cold days say 10 degrees and below you will want to cover up the cooler especially on a motorway as it over cools the oil which isn't great

Agreed on the Modine, good piece of kit. A few people have also fitted Laminovas which are the same idea - oil / water heat exchanger.

You only really need an oil cooler for track work, the main issue with oil temperature for normal use is the fact it does not get to temperature quick enough and this is where the heat exchanger comes in.

I dont have an oil cooler yet and plan to get one put on in the next few weeks before the summer.

On the point of do the cars need one or not and a friend of mine whose opinion and experience I value, is shocked that TVR did not include an oil cooler as standard.

Especially, if you think how the engine size has increased since the engine was designed and the power output on some cars is way above what they left the factory.

Still cant decide on a traditional version or one plumbed with the cooling system though!
