I am repairing a damaged griff 500 L reg and am about to graft on a new rear end (off a 2001 griff). The new body section has a series of holes across the back just below the bottom of the rear lights. Any thoughts would be appreciated, cheers.

did someone fit parking sensors?cant imagine what else theyre for?.i thought the only body variation at the rear was with the numberplate recess?someone else might come along later to shed more light.

Maybe the guy who made it was used to making T350 rear ends?

Perhaps it was for the American market and was for fitting oversized energy absorbing bumpers!

I think the only difference is,above the fuel tank there is a special (4 inch) medalion holder, next to the brill cream holder.
This was a option that became standard when the factory did some market research into who was buying the Griff.

Isnt there a little holder near the offside rear light inside the boot?
I believe this was designed to hold the drivers "taste", obviously not fitted to the Chimps.

if it's for taste it'll be a very small holder

Hi John

You ask a sensible question......

What size are the holes, and are they equally spaced, i still think they may be after-market reversing sensors, but somebody may be able to shed some light on this.

I am due down your way on Wednesday 6th, so will drop off those mats and would love to see the old Griff again.

Well you would know about that wouldn't you?

Be nice or we won't be sending anymore TVRs to the colonies!

Just to clear this up, this holder is actually for storing the cars 'implicit value'. It was left out on the Chimaera to provide extra space for golf clubs, which explains why they are ten-a-penny in the classifieds

Well as it happens we haven't had any TVR's here for some time,as they have to meet our frontal impact regs,(they haven't been tested).
4or5 Chims here (1 500),12/15Griffs and a couple of S's
