Anyone know of this Pipercross air filter will fit the early 4.0 pre cats? I measured the old one on the car (filthy and falling to pieces) and the internal diameter is the same but the Griff one is maybe and inch or so shorter.
What is the Pipercross part number for the Griffith one?
Thanks

If the internal diameter is the same there shouldn't be a problem. There is usually a water guard surround for the filter, which might make it a bit more fiddly when fitting a longer or wider version.

The correct Pipercross filter is available from here:

... although a lot cheaper than the one in your link, shipping costs, etc., may make it a no go.

Have a Pipercross filter from racetech in my 1992 Pre-cat Griff. Works a treat.

Have a K&N filter from ACT in my 1992 Pre-cat Griff, still in perfect condition after 10 years and several cleans.

Thanks for the feedback. I have since given the original filter on my car a thorough clean and will press it back into service.
