What does the Griff look like without a front plate
Discussion
I'm one of those dreaded Yanks who wants to import a 25 year old Griff in the next 2 years (I'll still keep my G4!).
I have seen a yellow Griff in Canada that looks awkward without its UK plate.
I was wondering if the bonnet was modified over the years for better air flow/cooling for the engine.
Thanks

Agree that looks fantastic but not sure the early ones look like that
They don't. It's quite easy, the 4.0 and 4.3 Griffs had a flat area on the nose where the plate was mounted, these look odd without a plate. The Griffith 500 had a redesigned nose and air intake with a bar across the middle where the plate is screwed on. These look fine without a plate. What is it you are wanting to do or asking?
Bonnets (hoods) - I don't think these changed throughout production, maybe minor details. They lift up like a regular bonnet. There is a large scoop at the front of the bonnet. Not sure if its there to allow hot air from the radiator to be extracted alone, or also offers air for the engine intake. I stand to be corrected here.
Nosecone/grille - These are all molded into the whole front section of the car and as stated, would involved cutting off a 4.0/4.3 nose and grafting on a later 500 nose if you want the grille opening.
Are you looking for a cosmetic improvement to accommodate a US numberplate? Worried about overheating in the US?
There is a chap called Terry who exported a 500 to Hong Kong and went through a series of mods to ensure the car was cool both for engine and occupants. Heat transfer into the cabin would be a big problem for hotter climates than the UK I think.
