My Griff seems to lock it's front wheels with out much effort.
I overhaulded the brakes about 1500 miles back and they are now nice and possitive but it's embarassing coming to a halt in a cloud of smoke.
You get the looks, you know the "you reckless lout" looks from old farts etc.. when I'm not even braking that hard.

Front Tyres are YOKAHAMA's.
The pads are nothing special, just patten ford replacements.

Do you think it's just the tyres ?

This might indicate that the rear brakes aren't pulling their weight. Finding somewhere safe to experiment, if you corner the car fairly hard at say 40 mph and then brake firmly, it should stay fairly neutral (neither understeering nor oversteering when you brake). If the front washes out, you have too much braking at the front or not enough at the rear. It's hard to get a problem which causes too much braking, so most likely you don't have enough at the rear. Could be as simple as the rear circuit needs flushing after your work on the brakes?

I had a problem with the front left locking up long before everything else and could find no fault with the breaks to explain it. Having re-bushed all round things are a lot better balanced. I think the old clapped out bushes were allowing the geometry to shift under load. Take a look at your wishbones to see they are centrally located in the chassis mounts, if they have been rubbing the chassis then they may be to blame.

That's a thought. Does tend to lock the left a little before the right.

With the A032s I run 20 front 22 rear, with the SO3s 22 front 24 rear.
