Griff stalling after long runs

Recently took the newly acquired Griff out for a several hour run. Great fun to drive and it never seemed to run out of power. The only problem I had was when coming back, it stalled a few times right after leaving the highway. It started right back up later in the day and the problem has not resurfaced ....yet. Talking to the former owner, he really only used the car on short journeys in the last several years and the total mileage is low. Any advice on what might be causing the stalling ?

It might be the battery - I changed mine and this symptom disappeared. At a guess, the alternator covered things whilst the car was running at speed, but as the revs dropped and the fans came on, the battery found itself a bit out-done. When I removed my old battery it was well under spec - not the capacity it should be.

Strangely the old battery still had enough stored power to crank the engine - but it died completely after a few weeks' regular use.

My friend had this exact problem with his Chim. He could drive for miles and weeks and then out of no where it would cut out only to fire up immediatly when re started.It turned out that the imobiliser was faulty. He had it bypassed and that cured the problem.

Thanks for all the advice. It seems like the easiest thing to do is change the battery and see if that solves the problem. If not, then it looks like it is off to the dealer for a quick check.
