Brake fluid warning light - help please
Discussion
Hello fellow TVRers,
The brake fluid warning light came on during some spirited driving at a Curborough sprint last week. The brakes still felt fine but the level did look a little low. Topped up the fluid. Drove home carefully and ordered some new rear pads as these were a bit worn, about 30% left. I also ordered a new reservoir cap as this wasn't a good fit.
New brake pads (Mintex) fitted and new cap (correct part from Ford, genuine part) fitted, the light is still on. The level looks ok, just over half way up the reservoir.
Removed all the wheels to check for leaks on the calipers, all looked good, no signs of leaks. Nothing dripping under the car
Any ideas anyone? Thanks in anticipation.

The light only indicates low fluid in the reservoir so top it up a bit more. You can also test it by joining the 2 wires together on the cap and light should go out.
Doh! Didn't think about joining the wires to check the light, thanks for that. Not sure how much fluid to put in, I didn't want to over fill and it start to leak out but will put a bit more in if the light checks out ok. Cheers tim-gqo0s said:

Fill it to about 3mm from the neck so leaving room for expansion. Classic Chim said:

That warning light doubles up as the handbrake warning light, possibly something is stopping the handbrake lever from fully releasing.
Thanks Hedgehopper, thinking about it, the handbrake could be the culprit, the handle never seems to fully go down when releasing. Will get this checked out. Cheers.Gassing Station | Griffith | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
