Has anyone noticed that some Griffith SE's have a recessed rear number plate and some don't?

Does anyone know why?

think(not 100%) it was something to do with backlit plates being illegal(certain date) or stopped so they had to recess the plate and have the light above illuminating it... thats why its hard to find companys that will do the rear plate now.

I think it was just about what tubs they had lying around to use up. Just like some SE's have a Tuscan air vent of tne far left, and some have the old BL vent.

Hi Andrew - nice to meet you yesterday at David Gerald - it was my Griff you were listening to. I liked the sound of yours as you left - heard you right into the distance.

I have one of those recessed number plates (mine is no 89/100 of the SE's). I've looked at all the pics I've got of SE's including those in the Griffith Story Book and have only found 2 with recessed number plates, which is obviously designed to include lighting. I wonder if it was an option??
