On mine there is a lock nut underneath the knob itself.
This has to be released first?
Is your the same?

You have to unscrew it.

Grasp your knob firmly in one hand and twist it anti-clockwise. Might take some efford to get it to come

Tride it with a pair of mole grips holding the shaft, and with a large pair of plyers wraped in rag twisting the aloy knob, hence the severe leverege to shift it slipping and damaging the knob. I have a last now where's mi gas axe.

Ta-Da done it, used the blow lamp, heated the alloy knob up it expands, and sharp twist with the chammy leather and off it comes,

WHY?
Because the gators are being replaced on the tunnel,
Looks like i will be able to polish my knob now, the scratches are not too bad.
