Pot Noodle Horn - I wish !!

I'd love that big brassy thing, the horn on my Griff sounds like someone strangling a chicken in the pantry with the door shut.

Has anyone replaced theirs and with what?
Oh, and the usual question - is it an arse of a job or an easy one?

There should be two horns, both located in front of the radiator behind the main beam lights. On most cars where two horns are fitted each is a different tone to give more depth to the sound. If yours sounds shite it might be that one of them's broken. If each is a different tone then just one unit on its own would sound weak. No bother to remove and replace.

www.stebel.it -> ElectroPneumatic -> Nautilus -> Big speaker icon. I have two, one on each side which technically makes it quad air horns. Bit of wiring, couple of fuses, £60 well spent.

Incidentally, they're a lower note than the Ferrari air horns which I think suits the car better.

I've looked at the stebel site and note they are in the USA. Did you source in this country? because I am mildly interested in their electro-magnetic horns.

I've fixed it and although it sounds like noddys car at least the horn works again. As it turns out I wasn't that far off.
Had I said it sounded like a chicken gargling, or someone drowning a chicken would you have guessed what my problem was - I damned well hope so or I'm finding another forum..

Anybody want to hazzard a guess? The clue is in the question (where have I heard that before!)

Have you been through any deep puddles recently? If you did get it really wet, it may still die from rusty internals. Mine did eventually.

On the button Ian as usual, although I dont remember the puddles and dont usually drive it in the rain.
I was surprised to find separate air compressor and horn though so if it does curl up its toes it shouldnt be that difficult to swap the horn itself - although its very tight down there (oo err missus)

Now you've mentioned it though I'm going to dump a load of WD40 down its throat !
