Having a set of Toyo`s fitted tommorrow, i`ve seen mention of curing them, or running them in? Can anyone enlighten me as to the best way to do this?.........Martin

Start with a hundred miles or so of gentle driving to clean off the release agent and buff the surface. The put them through two or three heat cycles. Find somewhere quiet where you can drive the car moderately hard without involving anyone else. Spend about ten minutes accelerating, cornering and braking fairly hard - say 75% of the force required to squeal the tyres. You don't need to be a hooligan, but it's quite hard to find somewhere where you can sustain this without involving other people. You will know when the tyres are hot enough because they will be too hot to hold you hand against them comfortably - around 55 deg Centigrage. Let the tyres cool down naturally over a couple of hours. Each time you go through this heating/cooling cycle the rubber in the tyre vulcanises a little more, which strenghthens and hardens it. Each time has a little less effect, and after two or three times you've had as much as you're going to get.

Once the tyres have been fully cured you should find they distort less under load, squeal less and provide more grip. They will also wear better.

wait till its warmer.

too cold to get any heat in on the roads ATM.

no need for road use, and if its for the track, do it over the morning, slowly lifting the pace.

All IMHO of course, pete's the man.

Yup, its quite tricky to get good even heat in them, on public roads & this time of year. Good fun trying tho :-)

Its all true above posts, but in reality just scrub them in for about 100 miles. Don't lose any sleep over this, there road tyres after all.
