Evening all

I'm going to re-carpet my Griff and could do with some advice if anyone can help please.
I've removed the old carpet but not the original soundproofing.
I'm thinking of leaving it in as I reckon it will make the new carpet feel a bit thicker. Has anyone else done this and got advice for or against?
Some of the grey carpet backing is still stuck to the soundproofing but its firmly stuck and I cant scrape it off
Cheers Andy

I, and others, have removed all back to GF then used Dynamat Superlite followed by Dynamat Dynaliner 1/4" foam liner.
If you are going to stay with the existing foam make sure you start by checking it is properly glued in place.
Also it is not just there to give padding. There are plenty of places where one piece of carpet overlaps another and you don't want a visible bump. Best to give an example...the seatbelt tower has carpet both sides coming round to the front with about a one inch wrap around. This leaves a gap between these two carpet edges. You fill this gap with foam so that the piece of carpet down the front of the tower does not sink into that gap.

I have fitted several carpet kits from D&C trim and have been happy with the result.

I hope you have kept the carpet you have removed and marked where each piece goes and in what sequence. If not you have problems as the carpet kits (from any source) do not come with instructions.

If not I have diagrams I could scan for you.

Thanks Steve

That makes good sense to me. I'll leave whats there and re-glue where necessary and then get a bit extra to replace the bits I destroyed.
Just ordered a set of carpets from D&C trim so Xmas should be interesting!
If you've got any diagrams that you could mail me that would be excellent as most of my original carpet was beyond salvage

Many thanks Andy

That’s a nice looking car dash, mint.
I like dark colours. Black especially.
Chim owner here
I notice the floor where the seats bolt at the front you have what looks two box sections, is that normal in a Griff.

You’ll need them drawings if the Chims anything to go by. wink

Thanks - i redesigned the dash a few years ago and also changed the switches to something that works and doesn't fall out!

The aluminium strip at the front is an extra bit I fitted because I changed the seats for MX5 seats that have got longer runners
