I’m having my Griff repainted soon the original colour is Rosso Pearl but I want to paint it in a similar colour that doesn’t fade and is easily matched as I don’t want to have to be too precious about using the car and worrying about any marks chips etc I also don’t want use a three stage paint so that rules out Red Glow. If any one has any experience of a standard metallic red that is dry close to Rosso Pearl I would be grateful to hear about it.
Cheers Chris

As above really!

Cherry Pearl doesn't fade like Rosso.

Personally, I'd go for the Renault Flame Red.

TVR traditional colours include
Cherry Pearl - Darker than Rosso Pearl
Mica Red - Slightly darker again
Crimson Starmist - Again like the above, only really different by the type of fleck in the paint

Rosso Pearl was a much lighter colour when new, although various attempts to address the fading issue led to different shades.

Personally I think the alfa romeo Competizione Red is close in terms of stand outness ( if thats a word) to rosso pearl.

That may just be the colour I’m after I will get a sample ordered. Nightfire is also a good option does anyone know if the three versions of it differ in any way. I got a sample of version 3 which was very dark.
Cheers Chris

The Alfa Competizione Red is as far as I know a three stage Paint which is something I’m trying to avoid mainly due to the extra cost of doing it. But yes it’s a very nice colour and would suit the car.

Chris

I still owe you one for the body cart you kindly gave me. If you want to see the car in the flesh let me know, happy to meet up at Chesterfield/M1 services at some point.
If you go Cherry Pearl keep us pointed on paint code/supplier etc as mine is in need of some paint work. That said apart from the stone chips and dinks Ive put on it the colour still polishes up to a nice deep colour 22 years on.

Cheers
Ian

Had a couple of the colours mentioned.

My Chim was in Crimson Starmist, great colour and reasonably stable.

My Tuscan was in Rosso Pearl, Fecking nightmare, had a back problem for nearly a year, I could get into it BUT not get out without a lot of pain, so it was outside and sitting in the sun, slowly changing colour from red to pink!

My choice for a respray would be be Nightfire red, as I understand a stable colour when exposed to direct sunlight.

My Griff is Zyclam, I have been told it is a VW colour. Maybe a touch too dark for your comparison?

Peugeot lucifer red is a very nice shade although not sure if it fades as you don’t see many older Peugeot cars these days. It’s from the 405 era.
I had a friend many moons ago have a mk1 Astra turbo re-painted in lucifer red and it looked stunning.
