Terminal polarity on Bosch fuel pump
Discussion
I'm fitting one of these pumps and I will need to replace the spade fittings for crimped ring fittings. The minor challenge is Bosch in their wisdom havnt provided polarity marks on the pump terminals, the only difference being one terminal is thicker than the other.
The pump is per image TVR L0067
Has anybody fitted one and do you recall which was the earth? I noticed on a jag forum they said it was the thicker one for a similar pump.
if nobody knows I am assuming a continuity check should show that one terminal is earthed to the case, which in turn must be the earth terminal IYSWIM ?
TIA
Richard

Looks like the pump I fitted a few weeks ago. If it is, the + and - symbols are on it if you look very carefully embossed in the brown plastic - they are small and quite hard to see though...
I think the larger terminal is the positive but don't quote me on that.... if you did happen to connect it the wrong way round I don't think you'd do much damage, the pump will simply run backwards and the engine wouldn't start - would only take a minute to swap it back round - may be do a dry run starting the engine with the bare wires before you crimp on the ring connectors.

If you look very closely with good lighting you should see the polarity markings on the pump
These 2 websites point to the smaller terminal being positive. The first link has an image

no electric lights just a single candle on the floor under the wishbone to work by. Maybe the lack of light is the issue and I should use a few more candles ?
May be you should treat yourself ...
