No Reversing lights

Checked , both bulbs are good. Wiggling the gear stick doesn't do anything.

I went under the car today and I can see one sensor or switch on the lower side of the gearbox with a wire coming out of it, but it is totally blocked by the exhaust - does that sound like the switch I'm looking for? ('96 Griff 500).

My gearbox has a huge round hole in the base exposing the clutch if that helps (should it be exposed? seems a bit odd! - can see the cluth "finger" etc))

Unfortunately you do have to remove the exhaust for access. Whilst it's off you will be able to grease the prop-shaft which is otherwise difficult.

Don't worry about the hole in the bell housing as it is quite usual to see it uncovered.

The Westfields reverse light has never worked, roll on sorting that before the next mot.

Yeah, that's the bu99er!

I'll get it looked at at my next service this summer. Can't be bothered with removing the exhaust, when it will take them no time on proper ramps.

There will be a lot of reverse switch sales this year! Mine is getting MOT'd tomorrow :-)

Not sure on exact years. It’s only a really recent thing for mot to check front fogs and reverse light.
I deleted the single reverse light on my 04 focus so I now have 2 rear fog lights instead and that sailed through its mot without a problem.

Ahh - the new MOT tules comign into force on May 20th had me spooked, but according to the RAC I'm ok (96 plate):

"Reverse lights are now part of the MOT for any car registered from 1st September 2009 (59 plate onwards). Daytime running lamps (DRL's) & front fog lamps must work on vehicles registered from March 2018 (18 plate onwards)."

Still, I'd liek them working. Touch dangerous when parking in the high st which I do often

Roger, where do you live? You could put it on my 2 post lift and get the job done in 30 minutes. I know, I had to do it last year. Pete
