Hi,

Wondering if anyone can help.

My fuel gauge has started playing up. It doesn't misread, but it either reads accurately or not at all. It started playing up a few weeks after I had the outriggers replaced so I am thinking the wiring has been disturbed. I am working on the basis the sender is OK.

My question is this - is my understanding correct that if I touch the two wires on the sender unit together, I should be getting a reading on the gauge of full (if the wiring is OK) or will that just blow a fuse ?

Electrics not being my strong point. Thanks.

If the wires on the sender are Black and Green/Black you can join them together for a full swing of the gauge, if you don't get a full swing of the gauge try connecting the Green/Black wire to a known good earth point

Black = Earth
Green/Black = Gauge

Some gauges work the other way round. full scale deflection when open circuit.
