Oh no, not blue hoses...
Discussion
Cosmetic preferences for our TVR's are a very personal thing and there are many options.
When I was looking for my Griff I wanted it to have Blue silicone hoses simply because a lot of the TVR's I'd seen at meetings had them and they seemed to attract a lot of admiration. But I've calmed down a bit and now I've actually chosen a car I no longer have this irrational desire to follow the trend of coloured hoses/leads etc, also, quite a lot of people have said that they much prefer a monochrome engine bay, classic black and metal, and I've very much come around to this point of view.
The ironic thing is that my Griff came with blue hoses already fitted, but my car is still being prepared for delivery and during this time the guys at HHC Hexham have had to drain the system and in doing so knew I wanted a set of black hoses so they replaced the blue ones for me, amazing! One less cosmetic glitch for me to have to deal with.
Things left to replace are the wooden steering wheel with an original black metal one, the plastic stalks and dash buttons, and a wooden handbrake. maybe an aluminium dash, but I'm not sure about that yet.
When I was first looking I wanted all the bells and whistles but now I've changed my mind completely, and after looking at a few cars with a more traditional approach and less adornments, for me anyway, it seems the better option.
I'm not in any way connected with HHC in Hexham, but I have to say that they've been really amazing in every way concerning the purchase of my Griff, I can highly reccomend them, great bunch of guys.

If you want to buy a ready made kit you are limited to what the TVR specialists have in stock, so most likely blue. If you are prepared to measure each hose and order from a silicon hose supplier than you can have any colour you like.
I have a complete engine bay of blue hose. I wanted All the hoses the same colour and blue was the easiest way to go. The plenum, rocker covers, swirl pot, alternator, air flow meter and heat shields are silver or grey. Every hose is blue. Everything else, including manifolds is black. Black hoses may have been too much.

I think they look good here, IMO I think it all depends on the colour of your car, with the bonnet open. Blue definitly clashed with my red car, and I can understand why the other red car here went for black hoses, red would be fine, but it's going to be really difficult finding the right red sometimes, to go with your paintwork.I’d agree the colour of the car has some bearing on if coloured hoses look good.
I wanted Red as I love red when having Mbe as I thought the grey ones looked ,,,, a bit grey
I was quickly talked out of it and over the last few years the grey work really well, a bit classic but mostly they sort of disappear from your eye, you see the shiny stuff rather than loads of wires,, minimal look sort of thing, I’ve come to think it looks ace and very subtle.
Powers Hoses are top draw too. About 6 years old and a quick wash and they gleam, wet look
Don’t leak though
My body colour is very light as are the wheels and a bit feminine to some, Black seems to work well as a contrast and gives the engine bay a more manly look,,, all in my imagination obviously
Must say I still have a youthful love of coloured plug leads but even that seems a bit over stated to me now I have dull but surprisingly pleasing grey ones!
Maybe it’s the little number tags in yellow that I like,,,
Each to there own and I like all the colours and stuff we do.

I looked at a few silver and white Griff's, for some reason, they lost all of that "restrained power and beauty" look of the darker colours, and they also looked more "kit car" than normal, for some reason. Feminine and masculine regarding cars is a strange one too, I'd say the Griff is in masculine territory, it has some beautiful curves, but curves don't always look feminine. Just as straight lines don't always look masculin, 70's styling especially Italian, had a lot of straight lines, and the TVR "Wedge" is virtually a box! but to me it's their most feminine car ever.I wanted Red as I love red when having Mbe as I thought the grey ones looked ,,,, a bit grey

Ignore all this, it's early, and my Griff is on the way, and I'm not on the planet!
