Drive Shaft seals

Apparently the drive shaft seals on my 95 Griff need replacing. There's a couple of small drops of oil on the garage floor underneath the diff so I'm going to get it sorted out. Basically I'm wondering if it's likely to be an expensive job? Also the diff has started making a slight whining noise during acceleration so would this be the cause, and thus getting them fixed cure it?

I would have imagined that torn drive shaft gaiters would have leaked grease rather than oil.

Oil from the diff could be either drive pinion seal or either output shaft seals.
I believe oil can also come from the top via the pressure cap thingy ( Cant think of the name at the moment)

Good thing is , if the diff has to come out you can do the shaft seals at the same time.

Hopefully , others will be alongto confirm or blow me out !!!!

Yes, I thought that as well. If you have oil leaking then it most be from the Diff, a bit ominous that it has developed a whine at the same time. Would suggest that you urgently make a check to see that there is adequate oil inside and it is not all on the floor. If you have the Diff replaced or rebuilt take note of the tag on the back that states the ratio. There are at least two ratios used, I believe the later cars are lower geared. Correct type of oil is ( apparently) essential, the grade stated in my handbook is not as recommended by the dealers so check first.
