Thoughts on ceramic coating is it worth the expense, would like Clive ford manifolds but that's another story

Quality ceramic coating is expensive and IMO is not be worth spending the money coating old manifolds that are likely to crack again.

I would either weld up your originals or stretch to a set of ACT or Clive F.

I wouldn’t spend money ceramic coating old manifolds.

I don’t like heat wrap tape for various reasons. Therefore, if you want to insulate your manifolds, say to reduce under bonnet temps, then ceramic coating is the way to go.

It is expensive. I believe it is effective. (I have ACT ceramic coated manifolds).

Whether or not it is worth the money is highly subjective and something only you can decide on. For what it’s worth, if I needed new manifolds, I would do the same again.

I have ceramic coated exhausts on another car where the whole exhaust system is in the engine bay and they make a huge difference.
I would have difficulty justifying the expense on a Chim/Griff as the engine bay temps are high but not excessive.

Good question, I'm also interested in this. I've had mixed opinions on both. I keep thinking a manifold that keeps the pipes equal length is the ultimate solution. Also looks cool! :-).

That does look nice and 400BHP! wow.

Hows the running below 2000rpm? super smooth? if so what ECU are you running?

Very slight shunting at about 1,700 rpm but otherwise as smooth as silk.

It will pull from 800rpm in 5th but I don't make a habit of that!

ACT outsource manifold manufacture to JPExhausts. Clive Ford makes them himself. I have both ACT & CliveF and IMO the CliveF is significantly superior. My ACT units became blotchy within months. ACT have offered to re-polish them but that means removing, transporting and refitting, a job I don't want to do

I have the ACT manifolds, which I am very pleased with. What I would say was that when I had an issue them (which I must stress was not the fault of ACT), ACT were super helpful in trying to sort it out for me.

I cannot compare them to the Clive Ford manifolds as I have never had any. & Indeed, it may be the case that Clive Ford would have been just as helpful as Tim Lammont was, if the circumstances were similar.

If I had the pennies would go for Clive f manifolds, but act a good second choice, on a ➕ side will be easier to change now I swapped to Allen bolts , regards to the gaskets using act ones not much meat left to seal

How do you get an allen key in the bolt head?
Many of the bolt positions you can hardly get an open ended spanner on.

I was assuming that he meant an allan socket.

But you are correct, in many positions you cannot get a socket on, so how would you get a different type of socket on?
