4.3 manifolds & Y piece ??
Discussion
How do you know if the manifolds and Y piece are getting close to their end of life ? I quite fancy having them white ceramic coated, but don’t know if they are knackered.
It’s such a huge part of the under bonnet look and I have been spending past Few days detailing under the bonnet cleaning every part properly and feel the manifolds and Y piece will ultimately let the rest down.

They don't wear out. There are two failure modes, breakdown of the welds at the centre of the 4 into 1. This happens randomly. The other issue is choking of the precast, not as common but it has happened to several owners. The metal is quite meaty, I very much doubt thickness would be an issue
On my 92 Griff they were wafer thin, very rusty, and started blowing at the headers.
If you ceramic coat them they will have to be blasted and if they are thin that may finish them off.
If this is just for cosmetic purposes you could take off what you have, clean them up and paint them. This is the cheap option.
The other option is to buy new ones. These could be stainless and/or ceramic coated.

Well my manifolds are original, 92 Griff. and the y pipe is wafer thin manifolds cracked been welded ceramic coating isn't cheap. Myself saving for Clive ford's manifolds. Stainless looks good just my opinion
Does Clive have his own business making stainless manifolds and Y pieces ? I would like to keep the exact same shape but stainless.

Clive’s are undoubtedly nice and some would say the best. There are, however, other suppliers of manifolds for our cars, some of which are more cost effective, and also look very nice.
Do you know what other company’s there ? So I can look at the options of the best and maybe little bit cheaper Gassing Station | Griffith | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
