It leaks Noooo!!!

After lat weekend's deluge when I was caught driving back from Manchester I have found that the car leaks quite badly. The roof is fine but the Carpet under and behind the driver's seat is soaked, so much that when you push your had into it water covers your fingers.
Any idea where this is coing from? I suspect the Seat mounting point holes????
Also the passenger carpet in the footwell is slightly wet as is the bas of the battery cover.
Possible suspects? Possible remedies??

Could be a number of places to look.
Doors seals are one, Mine used to leak around the drivers door, the water used to come down the side of the front window along the seal, and then where the first bend is that goes towards the front of the car. It would then go under this bend as it was ill fitting. Then behind the carpet into the footwell.Although you say its behind the seat, could be the rear seal, also does the seal along the botom edge of door appaure have the little holes of kinks in them. As if not the water can run along these and cant get out except inwards and over the sill.
Engine bay, It can come through nearly anywhere where wires come through especially the brake reservoir, But thats not on the passenger side where you have a leak at the front of footwell, would check wiper cogs are sealed and the battery wire that goes in through there.
Good idea to seal the seat bolts although i doubt you would get too much water through them.

Mine used to get quite wet under the seat. First thought it was leaking through the bulk-head down to my feet, but later found it was wet behint the seat and soaking down forwards to the carpet there.
In the rain I noticed the odd drop seaping through the seal at the rear of the roof panel.
A coat of Renovo waterproofer later and haven't had a drop since (touch wood!)
I think if your roof hasn't been treated for a while then water soaks into the mohair and capiliary action carries it around the inside of the seal and into your car.

Wildfire, i had exactly the same problem with my Griff and couldn't find it coming in anywhere but as above i could probably guarantee it will need the hood waterproofing, i was advised to do this when i asked the same question ages ago and mines been bone dry eversince. Mine probably needs another clean and proof thinking about it as you're supposed to do it every year. Baldy.

I have noticed that when I put my tagra panel it fits differently everytime, sometimes so that the rubber strips at the top of the windows end up inside the glass.
The only way I managed to get a good fit everytime is when fitting the panel on isto make sure the doors a fully open.....

If the hood is not water proof then it gets in. Sealing or water proofing the hood with a water seal product (I use Thompsons) will prevent this, though make sure the roof is completely dry before application.
I suspect that the fabric soaks up the water and it gets through along the joint to the body by capillary action and runs down the back panel or the inner side skin.
Its not immediately obvious that this is where the water gets in. The rear shelf feel's dry but lift the carpet around the back edge and push your fingers into the corners, this is where the water collects and then runs around and drains into one of the rear footwells. Also inspect between the inner and outer skins by removing the lock mechanism panel, if you get your hand in and its been leaking the bottom will be full of wet fibreglass mush, the water collects in here if the drains are blocked (and they will be) it soaks back into the foot well.
