AVO suspension on eBay

Saw this on eBay that may be of interest to those gathered here:

Says:
Front and Rear adjustable shocks
Front springs 2.25" @ 350lb
Rear springs 2.25" @ 300lb

Dunno if this spec sounds right - seems a good price if it's kosher.
Anyone have a comment?
Anyone had experience with this seller? He OK?

www.needforspeed.co.uk do these kits for a little bit less and allow you to chose your spring rates.

But phone them up if you want to order because they have a problem with the delivery calculator on their site.

Sorry David they are quoting the PF range not the PD
range the PF range are the fixed spring seat and are £5.00 cheaper than the PD range, you have to watch out for some of these factors.
Still offering 5% discount on the whole Avo range though. Mind you you know my views on this subject.

Whoops, didn't see that.
At £465 total he is a few quid over RRP and into normal AVO/GAZ offers of £460 including VAT and delivery.

You can choose you spring rates with the e-bay guy if you like: "If you require different springs to the above please email us as we can supply a variety of spring loadings for these shocks"

At the end of the day Budget shocks vary in price from £75 to £80 each plus VAT for the ride height adjustable with multiple damping setting units, springs are generally about £20 plus VAT, delivery is around £10.

You can dress it up how you like but discounts are minimal to the distributors so unless they are selling old stock, those are the sort of prices you will eventually pay, one way or the other.

On the subject of shelf life, I would personally prefer to have my shocks assembled, tested on the dyno and shipped, rather than sit around for a year or more.

very few dampers are dyno tested before shipment. Nitron Gaz and Protech all are .. but you'd be surprised how many firms just build them up and ship them out ...

Why does that not surprise me Jools, I like the security of a timed and dated Dyno report, it certainly gives me a more secure feeling.

I note Avo are not included in your list Jools, should I read anything into that?

presumably avon have a dyno, but i've never seen a report, or heard them ever talk of using it ..

any decent damper manufacturer should be happy to show you the dampergraph for your dampers, i think GAZ routinely send the report with the damper anyway?

I've never asked avo to supply any reports so don't know if they test each damper, or one of a batch, or any at all .. I do know nitron and protech do though because i have dampers specced to suit and often ask for graphs so i can see how the trace affects the feel of the car.

you can also check to see if same spec dampers are actually performing as the last set did.

I don't think you can do proper damper speccing without access to dyno sheets.

Yes Gaz do routinely send out the dyno reports with the shocks, being a cynical Bd I always have a look just in case they are stretched and slip in a generic report but to date I have to say that they seem OK

I think the Dyno report for the GAZ units is a part of the paper work you require to make any warranty claim...... .... I could be wrong


Was when the garage who fitted mine had thrown away the reports for one set of springs n dampers.

Allways worth keeping this sort of thing with your history but the distributor should keep records of sales for three years because of possible warranty claims.

Hmmm.... all very well if you bought them from a distributer I guess.

My rear ones I bought of Ebay... brand new with all the documentation...... and thats the one that thrown away.

In this instance I would have to go back to GAZ as I do not know who the initial distributer was (have bloomin good idea though) ...
