Hi

AS can be seen on the snapshot the left hand side of the boot is higher than the right hand side .

Anyone can tell me how I can correct the boot lid appearance so as to make it horizontal?

I have noticed that there are some shims in between the two fixation screws of the boot and the boot on the left hand side that are not present on the right hand side.

Would that be the solution to this?

Many thanks for your views

My boot lid had a similar problem. Take a look at the rubber seal and see if it is sitting evenly around the boot opening

Thanks Plan B for your very useful reply.

It seems I do really have an issue with the rubber seal around the boot lid. You were spot on.
See snapshot

In between the marks with the adhesive paper, and for whatever reason, the rubber seal is not hollow i.e. you can squeeze it, but full of rubber making it impossible to be compressed by the boot. This is right at the place preventing the boot to be aligned with the body....

Next questions are then:

  1. is the rubber having a defect?
  1. or is the rubber not in the right position? maybe this part of the seal is meant to be positioned elesewhere for instance nearby the locking mechanism?
any advice? can you check your boot seal please to see if I am the only exception?

Thanks for your help

Checked the rubber strip on mine and it appears to be uniform end to end.one very important point I forgot to mention (such a long time ago so clean forgot). The root cause of the uneven panel gap on my bootlid was the round peg attached to the bootlid wasn’t exactly central. That resulted in when the lid was pushed down the striker mechanism would try to push the bootlid sideways sufficiently enough to twist the lid so that tilt ended up with a bigger lid to body gap on on side compared to the other. HI

after some cursing and a crushed finger, my new seal is installed

This is not perfect but still much better than before. Seal is new and the boot is now difficult to close gently.

Thanks to you all for your comments

Purely an observation, may or may not be linked, the panel gap on the right is less than the left. Could the latch be off centre and pushing it right and twisting the lid as suggested above?
