Griff is back: out of this world!

Collected the car with it's new 5.3 engine last Friday from Austec; was handed the RR testsheet and was a bit disappointed: 312 bhp/350 lbs.
Then Mark said to me "that's at the wheels". That means about 345 bhp and 380 lbs at the flywheel, now we are talking. Drove the car home (Dordogne, France), having a fantastic drive in the sun. Next to being very powerful, the engine is so smooth! Took it easy a bit, keeping it at middle revs. Took it to 5000rpm a few times, just mind boggling. Will explore its full potential soon.
Full marks to the winning team, great job, guys, thanks, Paul, Rob (V8D) and Mark.

Glad it's sorted. The ride home and up to Holland should see it nicely run-in. I suspect I'll need to keep an eye out for you at Zolder

Yep, I'm very glad the car is finally sorted. Think it's still no match for the mighty T350 on the circuit, but we'll see; maybe in the sprint.

Chims gone and bought a LWT 4.5 Cerb, its a car I've known for a few years and is almost like new. Nothing wrong with the Chim, just "needed" a Cerb - I blame James.....
If I can't keep up on the track, I'll try my best in the bar

None yet, will get some this week-end. (Its Formula red with anthracite spiders).
Not sure what's going to Spain as yet. I do know it needs to be quick to keep up on the quiet drives through the Spanish country side!

Unfortunately not .... as I will be at Le Mans ... hopefully I will be back next year, even if the dates clash the 25th Anniversary version should reallty be attended !!!
The engine has 6k miles on it now and is absolutely flying, really tractable and better than the original, even thoughit is the same capacity.
Spend yesterday afternoon chasing my dad's 4.5 Chimaera through the Milton Keynes roundabouts ... great fun !!
Took it out this morning to really have a go: my god, it's frightening! The surge of torque is enormous and is always there, be it 2000 or 5500 rpm. What I did notice is that max. power is supposed to be around 5000 rpm but the engine won't stop pulling, even up to 6000 rpm (didn't want to take it further), I can't feel the drop off of the RR graph.
The handling is different with the Toyo T1-R's at the rear, they feel firmer; there is a bit of oversteer going into a corner which wasn't there before. I felt more confident with T1-S's but I think it's a matter of finding the right tyre pressures and getting used to it. Probably the extra power plays a role here too.

Hey gerjo it is me fred from spain now. The grif driver from Amsterdam. I was in Pau 3 weeks ago for classic races. I sold my Ferrari 275 GTB to a guy who raced the car over there. Were you also there? It is in your neighbourhood i think. Anyway take care and perhaps i pass by some day.

Re-lined, new bearings, shells etc, fully balanced and an MC1 cam ...
The fully balancing seems to make the most difference and the eagerness of the engine with the cam is much better than the original, although a back to back comparison is unfair as the old engine was sooo worn !!
