Air Conditioning - does it exist?

Does anyone know if Air con was an option on the Griffs. Used to have a 4.3, now considering a 'last 100' if air con was spec'd.

was an option for the whole 500 run, and i believe the whole Griff run from '94.

mines a '94 with air-con, and people will say it doesn't work...well it does...and its WELL worth having! particularly if you are going abroad.

but even in the uk, on a hot day, with the griff getting hotter, and the heatsoak thru the cool air channel!!!! trust me, you want air-con to get any cold air at all!

Couldnt agree more,very well put.The a/c works very well as long as the heater valve is set properly,just like it needs to be on all griffs.This makes one heck of a difference.I had a/c retro fitted to my last griff,and would never want another without it.My current griff also has it of course

I've been looking at this, do you mine telling me who fitted this. People tell me that A/C as a retro fit is a non starter, but you obviously no better

rossfitz-theres lots in the search facility to guide you on how to syncronise your heater valve.Basicaly,your making sure that the valve allowing coolant to flow through the matrix is fully closed when your control knob/switch is on the coldest setting.
Mark-i had my aircon retrofitted at what was 'Team Proactive' in the midlands.They no longer exist,but the main man,Adrian,now runs his own business called 'Team Central' i think.Also 'M.A.D.S' were another place that would do it.At the time,the factory would also do it,but i dont know weather they still would.The price to have it fitted was just under £3.5k.For some,the price just makes it not worth it,but ther are a couple of points worth considering:-my last griff sold for 2.5k more with the a/c than what i paid for it 18 months and 8k miles previously.The job was done exactly the same as the factory a/c and worked just as well.A griff with a/c is pretty rare,and youll never have trouble selling it,thats for sure.I'd say that if your considering having it done,then go for it.It certainly makes the car so much nicer to live with,you wont regret it.When i was looking for my next griff,i was allowing for fitting a/c in the budget,as i didnt think i'd find the right one with it.I would definately do it again-no question.

All true, but you can find them occasionally with no price penalty. A/c - non A/c

The A/C units on a Griffith are reasonably rare and at £1980 extra new is an option that was included with the `Power Steering' and pigeon holed as a fairy pack etc..

However as time has come on they are commandinmg a little extra as spec always helps sell a used car, not neccessarily worth more but sells quicker etc.



The a/c unit seen on the drivers side of this 1998 Griffith 500 is typical of the age/build and has had over time pipework upgrading to assist keeping the gas in.

Shouid Ideally be gassed up every 12 months, way of checking is to see if front pipe gets cold straight away or not

Hi

I am a new Griff owner and have noticed that it gets very warm in the cabin. Whilst this is not a major problem currently (and no doubt will be a major benefit in the winter)the garage I got the car off have advised that the cooler merely goes from 'warm' to 'very warm' - and 'cool' is not really an option.

Can I assume from this thread that this is par for the course for the Griff? Should I buy Mme Jeffs a handheld fan?? (significantly less than 3.5k for a/c )
