Hi,

Whilst the car is being de-catted I have the chance to replace the inner wing heat shields. What are the best options?

1. Remove old and replace?
2. Stick a new shield over the top?
3. Use aluminium tape to repair the small damaged sections?

Not really looking forward to this one!

Any advice appreciated!

Best to do when engine is out, but remove old, drill out rivets, fill holes so no leaks and start again with new, sticking and riveting down with new holes and rivets. If you don’t have the engine fully removed you won’t be able to do the bulkhead shield.

Bugger.

Only the manifolds are coming off, so maybe just the inner wings, not bulkhead. What's the concencous on the best replacement kit?

I went to D&C Trim, they still have the original patterns, cost me £50 including post about 4 years ago and they threw in some extra material which I wrapped around the lower join flange.

Worth a phone call, their numbers in Sprint.

I did mine with the manifolds still on so manifolds off should be a doddle. It cured that funny burning smell I was getting every now and then and proved it wasn’t someone having a bonny!
