Bosch injectors and AFM

Do any of you know the Bosch part numbers for the MA preferred Injectors and AFM ? and what is the wiring difference between the Lucas and Bosch ones ?

Injector wiring is unchanged, the 20AM AFM has a different plug to the 5AM and requires a simple wiring change to fit. Either/both of these changes require a change to the fuel map. If your ECU has already had a socket fitted to take a Tornado chip, and if Mark already has a copy of your existing map, I believe he has the capability to convert the map to suit the new hardware i.e. no rolling road setup required.

My understanding from Mark is that if you fit the Bosch AFM, you MUST fit his chip, as the standard chip can't read the new AFM.

Also if you fit larger injectors you will be massively overfuelling your engine is you don't change the map.

need chip for injectors, as starmist says.

AFM needs matching resistor in the loom to achaive standard volt range. small potentiometer goes in to harness. no chip.

You sure you can go from 5AM to 20AM without a rechip? Mark Adams supplied me with a standard kit which included a trimming resister (cermet type), but I understood this was the CO adjustment trimmer not to rescale the output; I had to fit a different chip to suit.

No, but if you give Austec a bell they'll bung a set in the post for a very reasonable price.

what is a reasonable price then for a set?
How much better for a 4.0l are they?

The 20AM plus fitting kit came in at a little over £400, the Bosch injectors were getting on for twice that. Both of these give small gains, maybe 10 bhp between them but certainly not enough to justify the cost as an upgrade to a standard engine. But if you have a heavily modified engine you can exceed the capabilities of the standard AFM and injectors at which point these upgrades make a lot of sense.

Did some digging the other week about injectors.
Emailed this guy in america , he replied a couple of times and seemed quite helpful.
Hmmm bulk buy???

About £145 seems to good to be true.

There are some injectors there that claim to be oem RR spec, those what you are looking at? The originals in my V8S weren't Bosch so I can't verify that part number. The flow rate looks about right, anyway.

Can't see the uprated Bosch injectors there that we have been talking about. They're rated at around 32 lbs/hr which is more than any I can see there. As well as the absolute flow rate you need to get the spray pattern right, the specific Bosch injectors that Mark Adams and Austec sell have a particularly good spray pattern. By all means keep looking, but I know that even Austec have a hard time getting hold of these injectors and somehow I doubt you will stumble across then on eBay.

i reckon std injectors could easily flow enough for a 4.0.

only put bosch/webbers in for heavily modded 5.0.

stds with good map would be fine...surely...
better pattern etc would have a benefit, but very pricey

Well I found the site before I saw the company advertising on Ebay, and to be honest I was thinking of it being more help to others than me..

Just interesting to investigate sometimes.

You can dig around for prices to your hearts content, but Mark will usually part ex your old AFM for the Bosch one, (useful on 4x cars) ans Mech Repairs in Cheltenham were the cheapest I could find for the injectors.

Well guys
I put in the bosch injectors and AFM 3 months ago along with a few other mods. The injectors will set you back £600 + vat. I got them from Austec who did a first class service.The car is now much quicker off the mark with overtaking very much improved. Was it worth the money?? Well it does put a smile on your face when you take off and its great fun at a track day when you push the power pedal.

I had a talk with Mark yesterday and he was expecting a price break through on the injectors soon.

Basically - we get ripped off for injectors in the UK
(trade & retail) and the are cheaper in the USA.

They are trying to source the product.

Hopefully we can then get them half price

He said the remap was about 1 hours work..

Thanks for all the comments. What I really what to know is the part number of the ones that MA uses. £75 a go plus vat seems a lot to me so just wanted to check for an alternate supply but need to know what I am looking for.

I understand that after fitting a re-map will be required.

So, anybody know the part number of the MA approved Bosch ones, and to the matter the original Lucas ones ?
