Hello all. This is my first post here, though I have been watching you.

The Griff 430 (though with 500 front) that I have recently acquired was used in Germany by the previous owner. As a result the headlights fitted are for LHD countries. I have bought RHD headlights and am in the process of fitting them. Steve Heath's tome only mentions a mastic sealing the plexiglas headlight covers to the openings in the wings whereas my car had a separate plastic bead (piping?) held in by the mastic, neatly done on one side and clumsily on the other.

Is this plastic bead an unnecessary addition? Is the mastick itself supposed to form a bead? The plastic bead was proud of the opening in the wing.

Hi Peter,

I looked at a Griff which had a plastic bead sealing the light pods, it looked really neat. Have not seen any more though. If you can make it good I would keep it but equally you can get a good finish with mastic, takes a bit of practice though!!
