My Griff is fully rebuilt and has had front near side suspension arms but it doesn't feel as planted at the front end as it did before the accident. If you power through a corner the nose pushes wide. Any idea anyone, before I get dirty whilst not knowing what to look at?.

camber 1 and 1/2 degrees.

how about the caster? there's some washers in the top wishbones that set it. did you put them back in the right place (ie front/rear of wishbone) not sure where they should be, havn't done it myself.

Luckily the lovely TVR garage did the repairs (armco + TVR + 70mph = £12000) so I may have to get someone specialised to look at it.

Has anyone heard if Joospeed will still do TVR if you know what I mean?

Absolutely not an expert but… has the camber been set correctly ? With zero camber the wheel is completely upright and all of tyre is in contact with the ground, until the suspension is loaded mid corner. Usually these cars are set with about 1 degree static negative camber (wheel leans inwards at the top) A simple way of checking this is to drive the car fairly enthusiastically and then feel (or better measure) the temperature across the tyre. If it is the correctly set it should be fairly even. Too negative and the inside will be hot, too positive and the outside will be hot. However, you say it is “floaty” and then indicate understeer. Did the dampers get changed in the repair because in my experience Floaty is soft springs or dampers.

No the same old dampers are still on it. They are 9 years old so a change is needed hence I might as well go the whole hog with Nitrons etc.

Joospeed has 'shut up shop' in pursuit of a different line of work....ie engine peformance and upgrades, and as of this moment in time, is not carrying out repairs/servicing to any cars.

With regards to your problem, which appears to be an 'understeer' type of issue, did any of the steering/suspension/dampers/springs get replaced as a result of the accident repairs?

Shame about Jooz.

Yes both upper and lower nearside wishbones were replaced. Not sure why but they were.

I think that some camber/castor washers may have been omitted from the rebuild.

From memory (but mine has the early 2 piece uppers) there is more or less no adjustment to castor angles.Nothing of real significance anyway.

Have the tracking checked, if its towing out then hold on tight

Even if the suspension has been moved at all then i would always check the effect on the front toe in.

i am currently running 1.25 deg on the front and back with the toe in at 30 min (.5 deg).

Right,

I seem to be led to get the suspension sorted. Much as I thought.

Now I live in Cirencester so does anyone know of a good garage (a la Joolz) who could do the buisness. Not the Malmsebury or Ink Berrow main dealers!

Thanks

If you fancy a run to Doncaster i can do it for a small fee

It takes around 2 hours to set the camber (measurement dependent).

Unfortunately i cannot set the toe in (a lot easier on a ramp)

Any tyre centre can do that for around £20.(you usually need to tell them the toe in figure cos it aint in the books they use)

Get a quote and PM me for the camber set up (i bet its around the £80 mark).

I changed all the poly bushes and set mine with my Dunlop CG4 guage and the difference is well worth the effort.
