Griff Exhaust mods in Scotland
Discussion
Anyone in the Scotland Region modified their Griff 500 Exhaust? The 500 is much quieter than my previous 4.0l pre-cat and I'd like to remedy this.
The cheapest and favourite solution without the expense of a sports exhaust or playing with MOT issues over removing cats seems to be to replace the rear silencer boxes with straight through pipes.
Anyone in Scotland got any advice on what they've done to their Griff 500 or could maybe offer to hear what theirs now sounds like before I begin.
Appreciate any advice or feedback......

Do it !,it makes the car sound much better and the banging and poping on the over-run is great.
I have a sleeved system on my 500 (only done 10K)that I would be willing to swap for a standard system in good condition as I have had to remove the main cat as it was holding back my new 5.5 engine but it now makes my ears bleed !.

I've got sleeved pipes and stainless manifolds/y piece, running without pre-cats or main cat,and it doesn't seem too loud for me,even on long runs (or am I just getting deaf with old age!!)
Like you,I was trying to make my 500 sound as good as my old pre-cat,but just de-catting it didn't bring about the same effect. When I had the exhaust sleeved as well it sounded more 'raw',like a yank V8 sound, but was popping and banging all the time on overrun.
A quick rechip and session with Mark Adams has now got it running, and sounding, perfect!
I'd say just go for the sleeved pipes first and see what you think - it's the cheapest option!
