My car and I have recently returned from the test run of all test runs. Smiling? You better believe I am.

I washed the car this morning. The first time its been clean for 11 days. I took pleasure in tidying every panel so it gleamed once again. On completion, it looked priceless to me.

I drove it for a fraction of what it deserved, after it was cleaned. The 10 mile round trip to carry out an errand was too short but all that could be afforded with the mundane chores waiting to be done at home, as we prepare for a human baby to arrive.

On my return to the house, I proudly backed the Griff onto the drive and on into the garage. The garage door was closed and a quick pat on the boot was actioned.

It was a token of appreciation for the one thing in my life that never tries to deceive.

My Griffith has never, ever pretended to be of German reliability. Nor has it ever retreated into a corner when asked to perform beyond a normal cars realms. Because of this, I am happy to reside next to the building that houses my chariot.

The point of this babble?

Simply this. Last Wednesday, I lovingly polished the Griff and set off on the most testing of drives that my car has ever undertaken.

This particular drive took in 1,225 miles. 8 hours of which were the equivalent of a hard trackday. The whole journey saw external temperatures reaching 35 degrees but the car continued to shine with only 50% of its cooling system working.

For every man that proclaims TVR's are unreliable, there were 50 French waving and cheering at the sight and sound of a Griffith. But my car wasn't going to let me down and still the foreigners came to enjoy.

My trip to Le Mans was without doubt, the best drive of my life, ever.

If I couldn't understand why I patted my car in the past, I can now.

what a lovely story, i've just had a fantastic day in the griff took a mate out who has been dying for a spin for about 6 months and we must of looked like a pair of loons driving around cheshire grinning constantly, this car has impressed me more and more each time I drive it, I had very high expectations when I bought a griffith and up to now it has exceeded all of those.

I agree that the story is lovely and having been taken out in Hoovers Griff yesterday, I can see what you mean.
IMHO its the best TVR by far.

I could not agree more, anyone who does not see their TVR in this light is probably missing the point

Nice one, couldn't agree with your sentiments more. Especially "My trip to Le Mans was without doubt, the best drive of my life, ever." Roll on next year that's what I say. Although I reckon I'll be back in France way before then. Simply superb. Nice to meet you by the way.

Lazyitus, were you part of Tripp's (Rob Cerbera 4.5 RR) convoy down to Le Mans after the stop off at Gisors ?. If you were, I was in in the Green Chim 500 and I share your sentiments about our cars and that trip 100%.

Yeah, that was me!

You were chatting to my co-pilot when I was inside the supermarket getting some refreshments.

Top journey.

Oh make no mistake *that* will happen again. Anybody thinking Im giving up a Griffith for God needs to have their head looked at. At the moment though I just cant afford to keep the Griffith and Sag

Next time though I aint settling for anything less than a pukka 4.5BV !

Sorry to spoil the story, but yours isn't the only one! My mates chim did the trip, laden with tent/chairs/bbq/clothes/12v fridge and beer in very unfriendly conditions, without missing a beat!

Oh, and if you want to buy it it's now up for sale:

www.pistonheads.com/sales/45867.htm

Wouldn't it be nice to hear the phrase 'they all do that sir' with this type of story?
