After a nice morning at the capesthorne car show,started a nice drive back with Quinny me following.We were doing about 60 along a duel carrage way,when a micra indicates to go into inside lane so we think .So we go into outside,no the micra decides to do a u turn on a dual carrage way.Quinny could'nt avoid it and took his front near side off possible right off and a broken wrist.
Bloody hell said to hear all that but mostly glad to hear you are ok.
Also expieriencing a crash in TVR Griffith I would like to agree with your comments on how well they seam to hold out,GRP seems to be great at absorbing impacts although it looks alot worse as it shatters and teh Chassis is pretty damn strong(hey Tuscan racers where built around it)

Just a few thoughts whilst I sit here and try to take my mind off my wrist, which is really sore now the anelgesia is wearing off.
I don't know if any of you remember but I was in an accident back in November, when a van pulled out of a junction across my path and I T boned him in my BM, writing the car off and smacking my knee up at the same time.
The result from that was that the driver who was only 18 was done for Due care and attention and ordered to go on a driving course. Which I thought was a pretty fair course of action.
Anyway as an ex biker I like to pride myself on having a defensive driving style, and sinse the BM accident I've become even more defensive.
I basically don't trust anyone particularly those sitting at junctions or about to perform some sort of manouver.
And yet I didn't anticipate this. I did not suspect for one minute that she would do a U turn, and judging from what the witnesses said niether did they.
I suppose the point I'm trying to make is how do you protect yourself from this type of driver?
I think I know the answer, you can't, it's all down to fate, you can do everything by the book, but if someone else decides not to, your in the lap of the gods, it really is that simple.

Yep, that's about right, just got back from the hospital, confirmed broken wrist. Now in plaster and no bloody car for the rest of the summer.
Not sure if the car will be a write off yet, It's pretty bad, but mostly cosmetic so we'll have to see what the insurance say.

Sorry to here about that mate , it just shows you need eyes up ya arse these days, it seems when you go out for a drive you have to treat everyone as nutters just to survive

Sorry to hear about your accident, and glad to hear you are OK (except for wrist!)
Are you not able to claim for a replacement car from the other drivers insurers. As is clearly was not your fault, why should you loose out on summer motoring fun. I have read on this site about other instances where a replacement car was provided (merc slk) by the other insurers. Sorted out by 'anniesdad' from memory who i believe works as an independant insurance advisor (apologies if this is not correct)
3 - 5 months is an awful lot of sunshine to loose. Hope you get averthing sorted swiftly.

from a Mk I 1.6MX-5 (actually a Jap import) to a Griffith and I've been trying to sell it for what seems like peanuts for such a great value for money car.
Although the Griffith is so much faster, it doesn't IMHO actually handle as well as a well sorted MX-5, and in 5 years of ownership it's been utterly unbreakable and reliable.
Try one, bung it around, don't worry about whether it will let you down - it won't.
In fact I like my old one so much I'm thinking of keeping it, if no-one buys it by next Tuesday.
