Gear change stiffness

My usualy smooth gearchange is becoming much tougher and stiffer, particularly in to first. Clutch was changed approx 2 years ago and seems fine, although when it's let out I have always heard a rattling noise. It's booked in to get it looked at among a couple of other things...just wondered if anyone had any ideas on what this could be? Car's a 92 4.3.

I had a similar problem and was advised to change the gearbox oil first...being done as I type

Ok thanks for that. Wondering how easy it is to change the oil?...will check out the bible. Though more than likely I will get Austec to do it!
