Leven Engine Cooling Kit
Discussion
The thermostat housing is at the front of the engine, on top. Actually fitted to the inlet manifold, which sits across the Vee, so it's between and behind the alternator and the distributor.
There is a short hose from the top of your alloy header tank (next to the water filler cap) across to the thermostat housing.
You will need to disconnect and remove this hose (you might find it easier if you unbolt the header tank), then unbolt the themostat housing (may be easier if you remove the distributor cap, but make sure you don't get water in the dizzy, obviously!).
Note which way the thermostat sits in the housing before you remove it, and fit the new stat the same way around. Make sure you have cleaned off all the old gasket from the housing and block, and bleed the system as per the Bible when you have done.
If you have any problems finding your way around, e-mail me off-list and I'll send photos of my car (a 5 litre, but pre-serp, so the basic engine installation should be the same).
