Heat - Anyone tried this

This weekend I bought a small 12 volt fan and simply bolted up inside the drivers footwell to circulate the hot air down there. It works quite well but is not perfect.
On thinking about it some more, would it work if i purchased a 150mm computer type fan, fixed this to some ducting and drew cold air from behind the seats passing it under the drivers seat aimed at the footwell?
If I did would I suck hot air out or blow cold air in?

Some griffs had an aditional cold air blower fited in the drivers wing, this vents via the right hand vent in the dash and with an eyeball in the inside of the wind in the drivers footwell..
