Hi folks,

Weird one,get a strong smell of fuel and a rough running that clears after 20 or 30 seconds and then does not return for hours....happened 3 times, twice after 5 ministers after start and third after 2 hours with no issues after it clears.

Any thoughts?

My 205 gti with gti-6 engine did this and it was a faulty speed sensor on the gearbox, it told the engine to drop to an idle map setting.

Check connectors like the air flow meter.

And ecu temp sender connection. If you have RG you can check it’s stable. Temp sensors do fail and have a similar effect.

Both of the above, or on the odd occasion there have been reports of shorts in the wiring loom that ground one bank of injectors- this holds them open and over fuels the engine, so worth having a good look at the loom for any chaffing on the insulation anywhere.

Probably me reporting that the earth wire of number 2 injector was worn through and shorting to the bracket for the remote mounting of the ignition amplifier. As the injection is 'Bank Fire' that is shorting the whole bank.
