The tread blocks on the S are continuous to the outer edge

Even though they have stopped making them, there should be plenty of S03s around for ages. I mean, look at the places that still have S02s and they stopped being made in around 2002.
I agree with Garry about the speed rating. Could having only a V rated tyre have MOT/insurance issues?

It was the SO2PP that stopped being made and was replaced by the SO3PP; there is/was no SO3. AFAIK the SO2 is still in production.

I think you'll find the SO2's are now like rocking horse shit. I very recently had to buy SO3's for the front.
My Griff still has SO1's on and theyre coming up for renewal.

Apart from the Toyo T1-S the only range of tyres I have found so far that will do these sizes AND maintain the same tread pattern front and rear is the Dunlop SP9000 - both z rated.
Has anyone tried these on a Griff? or have any experience of them on other vehicles?
Costwise they are an attractive proposition as I can buy a set for just under £350 plus fitting.

I have a set of Dunlops on order as recommended by John Reid. He runs the race cars on Dunlop. So thats good enough for me.

Hmmm... I'm not so sure. It would be nice to have some clarity on this. I asked an insurance broker a while ago and he was very quick to say Z rated tyres only (ie original equipment). I'm inclined to agree that a V tyre could cope (except may be flat out!) but no good if they give your insurance co. an opportunity not to pay up.
I thought Z rated just meant 150+ mph i.e. the tyre is good to at least 150 and a bit more besides (but we don't know how much...)
The engineer in me says that V is equivilent to Z. The cynic in me says that in-sewer-ants companies can be right sods sometimes...
Personally, I've decided to go for Goodyear F1s or Toyo T1-S (but the W rated version) - whichever is easiest to get to me. (more of a challenge that people think...)

I now find myself in the same position of having to replace my fronts, due to a flat!
I have been also been told the S0'3 (currently on the car) are no longer available - I've had a good hunt round and these do seem to becoming hard to find. Anyone know where these can be sourced?
I've been given 2 options so far - the Dunlop SP9000 or GoodYear F1, like yourself MisterT, would be keen to know if anyone has run with these tyres?

That's the problem: if you want state of the art sports car rubber (SP sport max, GSD3s, Toyo T1s etc.) then you'll have to change somthing. If you stick to the Z rating then the SP9000 and the GSD2 seem to be two of the very few options. Originally the car was on Z rated state fo the art sports car rubber and that isn't possible now.
