Serp belt without Power Steering?

Hi all,
did any TVR, or any other car, use the serp type belt drive and NOT have the power steering pump in place? I guess there has to be a pulley there but would like to know for sure before I manufactor a pulley to replace the power steering pump. Any pictures of a setup would be great,

I've seen various poly-V setups with varying combinations of ancilliaries, including some with neither PAS nor aircon. Even the tensioner seems to be optional, one setup just had bottom pulley, alternator, water pump (reverse wrap), blower. You need something on each side of the water pump, but I don't think it matters particularly what.

cheers for that, i will look into making something like the idler for the other side, dont need the power steering pump and dont want to run with it,

Mines a serp without PAS:



The casting part no. for the idler bracket is ERR4053, however there is no part number on the hub bearing and plate assembly (suspect it must be TVR's own). The pulley is ERR4868 & the drivebelt is a Quinton Hazzell OBR71850.

Just to add if you do make your own idler that because it is the first pulley to be driven off the crank it will therefore see the most belt load on the drive system. Therefore it will need a big needle roller bearing to be safe (35mm dia and 25mm length maybe).

thanks for the info, I wonder where I could get one of those from, it would be easier than making one. I dont want to strip the powersteering pump to bits to make it an idler, Ill have to ring around a few people to see if there are any in the scrap yards,

It is a land Rover bit. Talk to the V8 builders as the new engines usually come with them.
