Does anyone have any advice about insurance...
I have full NCB and seem to be a reasonable risk with insurers, my other half is female, over 30 but has no NCB due to not driving for a few years (illness not naughtyness!)
Now.... with one car at the moment the insurance is in my name with her as a named driver.
I now want to go ahead and get a Griff - using my NCB etc to make it insurable, BUT I also need to keep a 'first' car that is decent for general use. My plan was to do this through her insurance but so far the quotes are rubbish - not helped by my intention to by an impreza estate or a big imported 4X4....
Does anyone know how I could use my NCB for both cars - does anyone else do this ?
Is classic insurance an option - how does this work ?
Im sure plenty of people out there run a TVR as a second car but also run a decent first car.... am I missing something or do I need to buy a Metro!!!!???

Classic insurance is probably your easiest solution.
Limited mileage classic policies usually demand that you have a 'primary' vehicle, anyway, and don't operate a NCB, as such (though they will still ask you the standard 'any accidents, claims or convictions' question).
So...insure your other car as your primary vehicle, using your NCB, and the Griffith as a 'classic'.
Main limitation is obviously mileage, but they usually demand that the car is garaged and, for a Griffith, Thatcham Cat 1 alarm fitted.
FWIIW, I'm insured on a Classic policy with Classicline; about £400 a year for the Griff 500 (37 years old, clean licence, in a fairly good area).

Just sorted this out...I've found that I can't get a classic policy due to not having a garage. However, some companies, Peart for one are going to mirror my no claims from my everyday motor...I think Mannings do it as well.
Apparently its not a 'proper' mirror with Peart...the bloke on the phone said they'll give me 50% introductory NCD ..then this will increase as the years go on. All this completely separate to my main car policy which didn't even have to be with them. Obviously, if you have a garage...go for a classic policy...will work out a fair bit cheaper as already stated!

As a matter of interest, might be worth you trying Barclays Bank car insurance. Got mine down to under £600 on a Griff 500, NNC discount but took into account a company car and gave me a considerable introductory bonus. Everywhere else went up to the grand mark (based on 6,000 miles per year).

Just committed to Peter Best with Ecclesiastical for £372 on 5K max, classic insurance. F/Comp with no w/screen excess inc b/down & recovery, £200 xs all other claims. F/james could only manage £515 at 4.5K max, and I'd been with them a year and they'd only do multiple vehicles if I had 4 or more....
AON would've done it but the cars I own werent expensive enough to do them on the same policy ....
Irony is, my daily runner is a 19 year old Jetta, which is entitled to classic description in most companies, whereas Bluey is amodern classic i.e. under 15 yrs old.
As for classicline, the clssic line from them was "we wont even quote you with that postcode". Arse n feck. Never had a car stolen in my life and, as for accidents, they go through on red here just the same as anywhere else in the country, so what's the premium piled on there for?
Lotto should go into the game and raise funds for good causes. Be most apt
