Evening all,

Had a new radiator fitted the other day (no more running hot for me!) and drove home from the dealer - about 90 minutes down the autobahn. No dramas at all crusing happily around 90-100 mph with the roof off. About a mile from my house, turned right at a set of lights and the engine died and wouldn't restart.

Called the dealer who suggested putting some fuel in (just in case - the gauge was reading half full, but you know what they're like) and checking the fuel pump cut out switch. At this stage I couldn't hear the fuel pump at all.

When I came back to the car after the walk to the nearest fuel station, before I put the fuel in I had a go and starting up. Roared into life, got 100 metres down the road and died again. Fuel in, bit of fiddling about (unplug and replug ecu, check all the fuses, check fuel pump connections), and a walk to a payphone for some more dealer advice and the thing roars into life again and get me home happily.

I late found that one of the door switches had a bit of plastic missing that meant the alarm sensor thought the door was open and kindly set the alarm off after 30 seconds of locking the door. One Ikea sticky felt pad later and that was resolved!

Could these two thing be related? I didn't fault find methodically at all (I was a bit p*ssed off having just come back from the dealer!) and any one of the things I was fiddling with could have done the trick - anyone had anything similar?

I'm planning to fill her up the brim with super plus unleaded and go for a good long rant - either to confirm the gremlin has left, or break whatever it was again so I can get it fixed - this time I'll remember my mobile though!

Sorry for the long winded post and cheers for any ideas anyone has,

Pete
