Stepper motor maintenance

Does the stepper motor benefit from periodic maintenance/cleaning or is it in the 'if it ain't broke don't mend it list? (I don't think it is mentioned in the TVR service sheets)

If your idling is ok then leave it alone. If your idling is a bit iffy - either sticking high sometimes or dropping low before coming back to normal - then clean the stepper. Very quick and easy as Podie's link explains. I did mine recently and it was black. A good clean later with some white spirit and the idling was back to rock-steady normal.

To clean the housing in the plenum, I use a toothbrush soaked in white spirit to loosen the deposits then clean away with a rag.

The concensus seems to be - leave it alone unless the tick-over is a bit variable. My tick-over is fine so I shall leave it be.
