Replacement cam

Hi all, could I glean some (more) advice please?

The griff is going in next week for what is suspected to be a knackered cam.

Are there any alternatives to the standard cam out there that people recommend? Or am I just better off leaving it alone and staying with the standard? (I don't want to sacrifice any low end drivability.)

I realise that there would be insurance implications with non standard kit just that I like to look at all possibilities.

If it is shot, do people recommend changing other components at the same time...lifters etc...or am I just being paranoid now... :)

There are various alternative cams available, best talk to your favorite cam supplier. Suggest you stick to the hydraulic cams.

If you replace the cam you will definitely need to fit new followers, and you will probably need to replace the timing chain/pulleys at the same time.
