Push buttons

Hi,

Can anyone tell me where I can get hold of the push buttons in the dashboard? I have a problem with the main light push button (the right hand side one in the group of three) and I thought as I have got the entire dash out it might be a good idea to change them all.

I have heard that they are available from RS or Farnell, anyone know the part number or order code?

Some time ago I had the dashboard fascia changed and since then the electrics have not been right. I have now stripped it out of the card and found several problems. The angle strip that contains the four switches and all the indicators was only fixed to the metal dashboard plate using a heat gun and jet-melt! Is this normal?

Is there a better way to attach this panel so that changing switches and lights dosn't require removal of a load of jet-melt glue?

I think RS number 319-348 is correct for the latching buttons, some are momentary for the locking and boot release. The buttons are held in by a strip of steel with holes in that is held at each end by a stud that is glued to the back of the dash. If you push the buttons too hard the glue comes unstuck!. Try keying up the surface of the metal with some abrasive and aralditing the studs back on.

I've used araldite rapid with (so far) great success!

Had to clean off all of the old glue and key the metal first by scratching.

So far it has endured extreme heat during this years Le-Mans trip and a fair amount of prodding as I've used the car lots this year including nighttime.

Worth emailing David Beer of Modwise fame. He came round in his Griff the other day and had uprated all the switches on his dash. Huge improvement on the original and bolt on with no mods. (no pun intended)

Would have changed mine,but wanted it to be in one piece for a change!

When fixing the button bracket to the glued studs its worth using a rubber washer to space the bracket fractionally away from the dashboard. Otherwise the glue is under permanent tension and in severe heat can come unstuck (especially when assisted by a prodding finger...).

Would have saved a considerable amount of hassle if TVR had used flush mounted studs through the panel before the mahogony effect covering was applied.

Another possibility that might work is to get some custom made brackets (instead of the glued in studs) which would cover a larger flatter area. Perhaps these would glue in better which would then clamp in the switch bracket.
