What is this noise?

When I take the Griff out of the garage after a night, two days, a week it makes a strange sound from underneath.
It's a rubbing sound that resonates up through the car from underneath but too loud for rubbing breaks. It sounds a bit like if you blew gently down a trumpet.

At first I thought it was suspension but then I realised the noise was happening as soon as the clutch bit and the car started moving. Soon as I've reversed out of the garage and onto the road the sound is no more.

If I had to take a stab in the dark as to what this noise is, I'd say it has something to do with the drivetrain. Could it be the prop or diff needing some lubrication somewhere? Although the noise sounds much to forward for the diff.

Any thoughts?

....But mine does it too.

Well at least it did before all the work I've just done, however it has only done 150 miles since so I'm not convinced its stopped doing it.

I thought it was damp in the clutch or something like that.

Not really, just annoying. Eventually you'll get really pissed off with it and unfortunately have to change it and that's a gearbox out job.

I think it's the suspension. When I had the car serviced in June they said one of the shocks was soft/worn. would that make a noise when first being moved after being stationary for a while? It sounds like it's coming from that area.
