speedo /rev counter

hi this is whot might be the first of many posts, have beeen a regular reader of the forums for a while and had the car for a couple of years no problems,
just noticed that when i switch the ignition off,
the speedo drops to 20mph and the rev counter drops to 1500 rpm, would this be an electrical fault and if so would it be the earths under the center consol,
i also plug in a solar powered trickle charger after a couple of flat batterys,
any reply would be gratefull

Is it an early-ish car? Mine does somthing similar .. more like 10mph and 1000rpm though!

As long as they both zero when you turn the ignition on, and behave when the engine's running, I wouldn't worry. I think it's to do with the fact that they're electrical guages and so any springing of the needle is minimal.

Mines the same age/engine as yours Felix TC and it does the same although I've had mins a year and only just noticed!
Seems like it's not broke so don't fiddle with it
